DiasporaExcellence Awards
The Diaspora Excellence Awards recognise individuals whose achievements, creativity, leadership and contribution have made an impact within the African and wider diaspora community.
Presented as part of Ankara Festival UK 2026, the awards celebrated excellence across culture, fashion, entertainment, enterprise and community.
"Celebrating achievement. Honouring impact. Inspiring the future."
About the Awards
Why the Awards Matter
The 2026 awards were presented on Saturday 10 October at Porchester Hall, London, as part of Ankara Festival UK's 18th anniversary edition under the theme 'Crowned in Culture. Designed for the Future.'
The Diaspora Excellence Awards were created to shine a light on the extraordinary individuals who shape African and diaspora culture in the UK and beyond — people whose work, creativity and leadership often goes unrecognised by mainstream institutions.
Each award category reflects a pillar of the Ankara Festival UK community: Culture, Fashion, Entertainment, Enterprise and Community. Together they represent the full breadth of diaspora achievement and the values the festival was founded to celebrate.
The awards are presented each year at the Ankara Festival UK gala evening, in front of an audience of creatives, entrepreneurs, community leaders and cultural advocates. Being recognised at the Diaspora Excellence Awards is a mark of genuine impact — chosen by the festival and its community.
