About Ankara Festival UK: A Platform for African Fashion & Culture
Ankara Festival UK is a London-based cultural platform established in 2008 to celebrate African print fashion, creativity, heritage and diaspora excellence.
Our Story
Born From a Love of African Fashion
Ankara Festival UK was founded in London in 2008 with a clear purpose: to create a dedicated platform for African print fashion, creativity and diaspora culture in the UK.
What began as a celebration of Ankara fabric and African print design has grown into one of the UK's most distinctive cultural events — bringing together designers, models, performers, vendors, cultural leaders and fashion enthusiasts each year.
The festival takes place during Black History Month and shortly after Nigerian Independence Day, anchoring it firmly within the cultural calendar of the African diaspora in Britain.
"A platform where African creativity is not just welcomed — it is celebrated."
